Positively Purple

It's been a little while since I posted anything on my blog.  Partly because I've actually been busy at work so I didn't need something to do to kill time...  but mostly it's because sitting at the computer, typing or using my mouse, has been a pain in the neck - literally!  Or maybe the shoulder, or arm, or elbow...  wherever it rears it's head, it hurts! 😬 Thankfully, because God Moves in Mysterious Ways , I have something new to help my aches and pains - my new bed!! Like I've mentioned before, we recently added on to our house and part of the addition is a new master suite.  Our old mattress was getting pretty rough to sleep on but we put off getting anything else so that we could get a new BIG bed when we had a new BIG room. So, last year we went mattress/bed shopping.   The pretty part, the frame, was easy to pick out, the rest not so much!  We tried out lots of mattresses and a few adjustable bases and at Denver Mattress we laid on a Purpl...

Fore!

Hello all!  Thanks for reading my blog.  It's been getting a bit tedious trying to come up with something to write.  I know God is always moving but we don't always see it as it happens.  Sometime we don't realize what all He has done until years later.  Even then, God Works in Mysterious Ways , so you might not realize it unless something triggers a memory... We recently added on to our home of 20 years.  We've been "living" in the new addition for several months now, but it's still a process getting settled into the new spaces.  This past weekend we sorted through stuff from our den as we moved book cases up to the new landing area in the addition.  Among the items begin dusted off and re-located was this bear: My kids and I (along with a helper I will mention in a bit) made this bear at Build A Bear Workshop for my husband for Christmas over 10 years ago.  In the paw of this golfer is a thing you squeeze to play a recorded sound.  The...

Right Place Right Time

I am a klutz!  Just ask my parents, my husband, my children, etc.  We all know it.  My husband thinks I shouldn't do anything even remotely dangerous because I'll undoubtedly get hurt.  I wouldn't go that far, but at any given time I probably have a cut, scrape, or bruise from being clumsy.  This has been going on since I was little.  In fact, the year I turned four was quite a year for me.  My mother was even asked why I was trying to kill myself...  But I know -  God Works in Mysterious Ways  - and He is always looking out for me! In the summer that year, my family was at a party at a home of some friends that had a pool.  My parents, my brother and I were not swimming.  We didn't bring suits.  But I wanted to get in, I wanted to be around the other people in the pool.  So, I walked around the outside of this in-ground pool.  I remember having this weight thing on the end of a rope I was dunking in and out of t...

Whole lotta shakin goin on!

This past Wednesday night our church had a "praise & prayer" night.  This was our first Wednesday night gathering since the pandemic began.  As I was sitting in the sanctuary, I was reflecting on how different things are at church now, how different things in the world are, and how it changes our perspective.  Once again I was noticing how God Works in Mysterious Ways ... In my previous posts I've reflected on how God has moved in little ways that we might not notice if we don't look for it.  But that's not the only way God works!  Sometimes God needs to get our attention.  Sometimes He has to shake things up... This month, my pastor's Sunday messages have been entitled " Shaken not Stirred ".  No, he's not talking about 007 or martinis!  It's based on Hebrews 12:26-29. Here is verse 26- When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens ...

15 Years or Several Centuries Ago

On Saturday, I got an email from a photo printing website reminding me of this picture from 15 years ago... I don't know how the website knew it was taken 15 years ago to the day, but once it's out there in the webisphere, it's out there forever! Anyways, this picture was taken on a bridge over the River Liffy in Dublin Ireland.  Dublin was the first stop on our trip to Ireland, Scotland, and England for our 10 year anniversary.  This was the 4th of July - but you know they don't celebrate that day? 😄 One of the highlights of this trip was when we visited Dorset County in England.  This is where you can find the town of Forston. There isn't really much of a "town", but there was a sign, a farm & manor house - and an insane asylum (don't know what that says about the Forston clan!!). While in Dorset County, we stayed in Weymouth.  It is a neat little ocean side town that was packed due to the hot weather they were having while we were there.  But w...

Invited for a Reason

This will be my first post that isn't part of my social media class.  It's all me! 😁 Enjoy... Over the weekend, my husband and I attended a wedding.  The bride is the daughter of some dear friends of ours.  In fact, 25 years ago this past month, Chad was the best man at their wedding and Steve was the best man at ours! The wedding was beautiful!  It was so much fun watching the bride and groom and all their friends have such a good time.  But during the ceremony and speeches, people kept saying how those in attendance played an important part in the bride and grooms lives and I would almost cringe.  I haven't seen the bride in person since she was a little girl and we'd never met the groom.  How could we have played an important part in their lives??  What were we even doing at the wedding?  Why were we invited? Over the past few days I've thought about this, and of course I remembered "God Works in Mysterious Ways" ... As I said, Chad and I...

Maytag Moment

Hello, everyone!  Thank you for all the positive feedback from my first post!  I'm going to try to keep them coming 😉 This week in my online social media class, we are supposed to make a video.  I pushed myself to do the podcast recording, but a video? Not gonna do it!   I've been in a few video announcements at church and I was not a fan.  So, instead of a video, I'll just write another blog post! In the video, we are supposed to share a positive experience and a negative experience we've had with a company.  Wouldn't you know it, I had a negative turned positive - God working in mysterious ways - experience just last month. I know they say appliances aren't made to last anymore, but for some reason they really don't last for my family!  We go through refrigerators, washers, and driers like they are disposable.  So, just last year we purchased  another  washer. This time, we decided to purchase a Maytag, top loading, no agitator...
