Invited for a Reason

This will be my first post that isn't part of my social media class.  It's all me! 😁 Enjoy...

Over the weekend, my husband and I attended a wedding.  The bride is the daughter of some dear friends of ours.  In fact, 25 years ago this past month, Chad was the best man at their wedding and Steve was the best man at ours!

The wedding was beautiful!  It was so much fun watching the bride and groom and all their friends have such a good time.  But during the ceremony and speeches, people kept saying how those in attendance played an important part in the bride and grooms lives and I would almost cringe.  I haven't seen the bride in person since she was a little girl and we'd never met the groom.  How could we have played an important part in their lives??  What were we even doing at the wedding?  Why were we invited?

Over the past few days I've thought about this, and of course I remembered "God Works in Mysterious Ways"...

As I said, Chad and I have been friends with Steve and Martie for a long time.  When we were dating, we spent time together.  When we were all newlyweds, we leaned on each other.  When Chad and I were the first to have a baby, we all learned how to be parents!  When our kids were little, we would get together and watch them play.  Over the years, life has gotten busy.  We haven't been able to see each other as much as we would have liked.  But, we've still kept in touch; we've prayed for each other; we've helped out each other's kids whenever we could.

Isaiah 46:9-10
Remember the things I have done in the past.   For I alone am God!
I am God, and there is none like me.
Only I can tell you the future  before it even happens.
Everything I plan will come to pass,     for I do whatever I wish.

Only God knows exactly what part we've played in other's lives! It's all part of His plan.  What He has done in the past leads to the future He had planned for us all along.  The bride's family invited us to the wedding so they must have wanted us there...  and it wasn't for our dancing skills! 💃 Our past experiences together made us who we are today and who our children have become.

So, next time you're invited to an event - especially when it's a mailed invitation - don't think you shouldn't have been invited!  You are important to those people, you've played an important part in their lives, go an enjoy yourself!!

  1. YES!!! I would not have known how to change her diaper without practicing on T! We would never have survived those early years in Indy without you both... the only family we had within 200 miles.

I LOVE this line - "Our past experiences together made us who we are today and who our children have become."
    Exactly!

he may NOT devour me!

Well once again, God is Working in Mysterious Ways , prompting me to share in my blog. This past Sunday, Pastor Troy Boulware mentioned this scripture in his message: 1 Peter 5:8 NKJV "...your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." It wasn't the main point of his message, but it reminded me of something.  A few years ago this scripture was the main point of one of his messages.  As soon as he read the scripture I was taken back in time to a nightmare I had when I was little girl... In my dream I was in a grassy plain and in the distance I could see lions on a slight ridge.  As soon as I saw them I was scared... The next thing I knew I was on the ground with a lion on top of me! Then the lion went to take a bite out of my neck, but his teeth went right through me like a ghost or a hologram!  I wasn't hurt at all!  Then I woke up... I may have had the dream only once or maybe a few times, but I didn't remember it until th...

It's Temporary

Today, I woke up to snow on the ground - in APRIL!  😱 I didn't take this picture.  It was too cold to go out and take pictures of my poor Lilly of the Valley!  But still, there is snow on my flowers in April! Not early April either, late  April.  Some may say, "but you live in Indiana, that's not completely crazy..."   No, I live in Southern Indiana - on the Ohio River - just a few miles from " The South ".  We should NOT have snow on the ground in late April! 😧 But then God showed me something, because, you know - God Works in Mysterious Ways! As I was walking downstairs to fix my morning coffee, I heard the birds chirping - just like I have for a while now - chirping like they do every Spring. Then as I was reading my Bible I read this: He sends the snow like white wool;      he scatters frost upon the ground like ashes. 17  He hurls the hail like stones.      Who can stand against his freezing cold? 18...

Positively Purple

It's been a little while since I posted anything on my blog.  Partly because I've actually been busy at work so I didn't need something to do to kill time...  but mostly it's because sitting at the computer, typing or using my mouse, has been a pain in the neck - literally!  Or maybe the shoulder, or arm, or elbow...  wherever it rears it's head, it hurts! 😬 Thankfully, because God Moves in Mysterious Ways , I have something new to help my aches and pains - my new bed!! Like I've mentioned before, we recently added on to our house and part of the addition is a new master suite.  Our old mattress was getting pretty rough to sleep on but we put off getting anything else so that we could get a new BIG bed when we had a new BIG room. So, last year we went mattress/bed shopping.   The pretty part, the frame, was easy to pick out, the rest not so much!  We tried out lots of mattresses and a few adjustable bases and at Denver Mattress we laid on a Purpl...
